Torment
Gasping for air
reaching for something
but there is nothing there
nothing to bring
relief from the assault
of pain
nothing to bring it to a halt
as it pours over me like rain

tomorrow
Breathing in today
exhaling the thoughts of yesterday
Soaking in the promise of tomorrow
hoping that there is no sorrow
Lingering feelings of hope
fading away as if of wisps of smoke
Wistful and wanting
for something but knowing
that this life holds not much more
and that this heart shall remain sore
